Degeneration of the cholinergic system in subjective cognitive decline: A systematic review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) is topic of mayor interest when identifying individuals at risk for future impairment and dementia. The degeneration the cholinergic system linked to onset symptoms in mild (MCI) Yet, it uncertain whether neurodegeneration already present SCD individuals. This review first synthetize available data on association with multiple markers system. Method Following PRISMA guidelines, original articles focused were extracted from three databases: Pubmed, WOS Scopus, November 2021. Two researchers reviewed studies independently a 2-stepwise approach. quality bias assessed using FLC 3.0, that allows systematically evaluate summarize them easily. Result Among 119 found our systematic search, 11 included current review. Seven cross-sectional 4 had longitudinal design. Most operationalized based amnestic complaints (n = 9, 82%). measures neuroimaging volume basal forebrain and/or functional connectivity, transcranial magnetic stimulation, or biofluid (i.e. cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) plasma). brain atrophy, 75% reported reduce volumes SCD; From those connectivity system, 33% poorer SCD. Conclusion Based scientific evidence, evident during Using biomarkers, seems occur significant structural nuclei their connections other areas. These findings have implications increased vulnerability targeting might benefit cholinergic-target treatments. Further research needed elucidate potential contributors its impact cognition clinical progression.

متن کاملWhite matter degeneration in subjective cognitive decline: a diffusion tensor imaging study
Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) may be an at-risk stage of Alzheimer's disease (AD) occurring prior to amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). To examine white matter (WM) defects in SCD, diffusion images from 27 SCD (age=65.3±8.0), 35 aMCI (age=69.2±8.6) and 25 AD patients (age=68.3±9.4) and 37 normal controls (NC) (age=65.1±6.8) were compared using Tract-Based Spatial Statistics (TBSS)....

15 صفحه اولBrain reserve and cognitive decline: a non-parametric systematic review.
BACKGROUND A previous companion paper to this report (Valenzuela and Sachdev, Psychological Medicine 2006, 36, 441-454) suggests a link between behavioural brain reserve and incident dementia; however, the issues of covariate control and ascertainment bias were not directly addressed. Our aim was to quantitatively review an independent set of longitudinal studies of cognitive change in order to...
متن کاملThe Effects of the Early-Onset Otitis Media on Cognitive Skills in Children: A Systematic Review
Background and Objectives: Some children are at risk of middle ear infections; however, the impact of the fluctuating hearing sensations on cognitive systems and immature central auditory is not fully recognized. Therefore, we reviewed and discussed the impact of early-otitis media on the cognitive skills of affected school-aged children. Methods: A computerized search of the databa...
